Practice Policies & Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

These policies are designed to support a safe, respectful, and effective therapeutic relationship. By booking and attending sessions, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the information outlined below.

Online Therapy

Therapy by Katerina provides individual online psychotherapy sessions for adults. Sessions are conducted securely online via agreed video platform.

To support the therapeutic process, clients are encouraged to attend sessions from a private and quiet space where they can speak openly without interruption. A stable internet connection and a functioning camera and microphone are required.

Session Length

Individual therapy sessions last 50 minutes unless otherwise agreed. Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time.

If a client joins a session late, the session will still end at the agreed time. If technical difficulties occur, reasonable efforts will be made to reconnect and continue the session.

Fees & Payment

The current fee for an individual psychotherapy session is €80. Payment is required prior to or on the day of the session unless otherwise agreed.

Fees may be reviewed periodically. Clients will be informed in advance of any fee changes.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, may be charged at the full session fee. Exceptions may be considered in cases of illness, emergency, or other exceptional circumstances.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a fundamental part of psychotherapy. Information shared during sessions will be treated as confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent.

There are limited circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken, including:

  • Where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself;
  • Where there is a serious risk of harm to another person;
  • Where concerns arise regarding the safety of a child or vulnerable adult;
  • Where disclosure is required by law.

Where possible, any concerns regarding confidentiality will be discussed with you before information is shared.

As part of ethical professional practice, aspects of clinical work may be discussed in supervision. Any information shared during supervision is anonymised and handled confidentially.

Communication Between Sessions

Email communication is intended for administrative matters only, such as scheduling, cancellations, and payment queries.

Therapeutic work takes place during scheduled sessions and is not provided via email, text message, or social media.

Emergency & Crisis Support

Therapy by Katerina is not an emergency or crisis service.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, feel at risk of harming yourself or someone else, or require urgent support, please contact emergency services, your GP, or an appropriate crisis support service immediately.

In Ireland, emergency services can be contacted by calling 112 or 999.

Suitability for Therapy

Online psychotherapy may not be suitable for everyone or every circumstance.

If your needs fall outside the scope of my practice, I may discuss alternative supports, referrals, or recommendations that may better meet your needs.

Professional Boundaries

The therapeutic relationship is professional in nature and is maintained within appropriate ethical and professional boundaries.

Mutual respect, honesty, and collaboration support the therapeutic process and help create a safe and effective working relationship.

Ending Therapy

Clients are free to end therapy at any time. Whenever possible, I encourage discussing the decision within therapy so that we can reflect on the work completed and bring the therapeutic process to a thoughtful and supportive close.
